We started the day at 8:30 and Susan was our driver. We were scheduled to leave at 9, but we were all ready and just didn't want to wait around. Susan, Diana, Wendy, and I (Linda) headed up 80 and around the west side of the lake. The heavy snow the day before left beautiful scenes for us to admire.
We were welcomed by big wide smiles! Their attitudes were amazing. As an observer via their blogs, I would have to say this has not been an easy trip. You would never know that from looking at them and hearing them talk about their adventures. It isn't always easy, but they are doing it and they are doing it with enthusiasm.
Diane & Gail We gave them the food that we all immediately sampled |
Diane & Gail In addition to food, we provided needed energy boosters. |
Linda, Wendy, Diane, Diana, Gail, Susan We had some of their fellow cyclists there taking pictures. There were a zillion cameras involved. Which way should we look? |
Linda, Diane, Wendy, Gail, Diana, Susan Lunch time! Our pizzas were delicious |
The time eventually came when we had to head home. The goodbyes were tough, but we were happy to have had the opportunity to spend a little time with them in South Lake Tahoe.
While they were thinking about the next stage of their adventure, South Lake Tahoe to Truckee, we headed home via Hwy 50. Diana was doing the driving and handled all the challenges well. We encountered snow, torrential rain, hail, and bright sunshine. Our adventure wasn't quite as harrowing as Gail and Diane's adventure, but I for one, held my breathe a couple of times and finally engaged Wendy in an interesting conversation. She distracted me from looking out the window so I have no pictures on the return trip.
A fun day! We wish them well on their continued journey through California, Oregon, and Washington.
