How many different ways are there to say hard? Well, that would be today! We left Bishop seeing those magestic mountains.
Then the headwinds hit,wow did they hit. Probably somewhere between 20-30 mph. And they stayed that way until almost the end of the ride. Now we were doing significant climbing with the winds blasting at us. During one of the switchbacks at about 11-12% gain with the wind at its worst I wondered if I'd be able to turn the peddle at all. Somehow it got turned and with lots of 1 miles stops to catch our breath we made it to McD's here in Mammoth for a break and something to eat.

Well,I'm very sure this difficult day just made us stronger for our days ahead. It's very beautiful and just so huge it's hard to show in my pictures. But I'll keep trying to show what we are seeing daily.
Continued admiration! I don't know how you do both the wind and the hills. I keep thinking of our ride from Davis to Woodland--all flat, but those winds were awful. Add the uphill, and I would be standing still. You are truly amazing. Have I said that before? Well, I'm sure I will be saying it again!!!
ReplyDeletePS: Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteLove the mountains- and that you are at Toms Place 5,000+ ft of elevation gain in 47 miles with wind... You all are an inspiration!
