We left the hotel for a very pleasant 3 mile ride to our first climb. I didn't take too many photos as my very beautiful snow covered mountain tops are starting to blend together.
But just in case you needed to see one more |
It's a little hard to make out but a very pretty rambling River. |
This first climb is just how climbs should be. It stayed under 4% and about 7 miles. For a short period there was no shoulder but we were still on Hwy 395 so very large trucks can be right there passing us. A police officer took it on herself to guide us up an incline by putting on her lights, getting in front of one of trucks and taking the middle of the road thereby providing us safe passage! Yea, Bridgeport police department!
At mile 40 we left 395 and turned left onto 89 where the real climb began.
Oh my it has begun! It starts off a bit breezy but so pretty! I noticed a thump thump coming from my back wheel and I must have said 100 please don't let it be a flat, which must have worked because there was just a pebble stuck on. Easily removed. Off I went trying to keep Diane in sight. We take short breaks on long climbs.
A wonderful view of the road ridden. By this time the breeze has become a noticeable wind. But the sun is still pleasant and not much traffic. Just keep thinking happy thoughts and this 10 miles will fly by. Fly by did not happen and the wind was becoming very difficult gusts. So slowly ever so slowly we would make the next mile. The wind had now become horrendous. We and our bikes were being blasted and moved by gusts we were told 30-50 mph! And it was so cold. We both had outer wear tucked away so made a stop to dress. Then we saw the sag! Yea Kat! I yelled at the top, thinking it was around the next bend, not quite. But we made it!
And tomorrow our very own Tahoe. Yes, rain and snow is predicted.
WOW!!!
