We left La Pine early, around 7:30A. The thought being we could have time to wander around Bend before our rooms would be ready. Our ride would be just a little over 50 miles. But of course this is the Sierras and that means, a climb! And we did. We started off mostly flat for the first 15 miles. A nice easy going ride with pretty views and low traffic. The school busses were out picking up the children for school. We made a slight turn and then it started. The Sierra Cascades were there to climb. It was long, close to 14 miles. Not more than 8% except at the very end, so just long. Then the downhill was so nice!! It brought us into Bend via 3 round abouts. We came through the old Historic district where there was quite a lot of traffic but we did find our way to a bakery for a wonderful lunch. When checking in we found out all the riders were given single rooms! Except 🙃 Susan and me. How lucky we are, more time to talk.

Two of our sag drivers, seated Pam and standing Kat. |
Note the food on top of the water container, my personal favorite in the baggy, pretzels with peanut butter. Thank you Pam and Kat for all you do to make our rides even more enjoyable. Both Pam, Kat and Cindi, our third sag, will ride on their non sag days. Also a thank you to Cindi who's always there.
This is where we turned right after the sag stop to begin the fabulous downhill. Here Mt Batchelor is only 3 miles away, it's 9,068 ft tall so I'm very happy we're not climbing it. We could see the ski trails from this point. Another beautiful snow covered mountain, how lucky we are to see so many.
