A Send Off for Our Friend!

The day is close at hand for Gail to start her adventure   We couldn't let her go without a proper celebration. We wish her sunshine, moderate temps, and a strong tail wind on the uphill rides. You are strong, Gail, and you (and we) will be happy and proud when you reach that last hill and head for the finish. Ride well and ride strong. Our thoughts will be with you the whole way.

4/15/16 Mt Diablo climb

Wendy and I left home at 7A for the 2 hour drive to Alamo where we met Diane and Nita. Today we were there to climb Mt Diablo, it's only 12 miles from where we parked to the top. What's 12 miles? Well, it's 3 1/2 hrs and almost 3394 feet of switchback climbing. And it's beautiful! This is a view from where we all met up and stored with Nita in the car extra clothing not now needed.

Here we are taking a break before we start back up.

Wendy climbing strong and almost smiling.

At the top, yay, we put back on all discarded clothing. It was so cold and very windy. Really not such a fun downhill due to very strong wind gusts. But oh so much easier on the legs but harder on the hands,  gripping and feathering the breaks. What took almost 1 1/2 hrs to climb 3.4 from a rest stop at the Ranger Station to the top took 14 mins to descend. Next we continued the downhill to the cars and most importantly, lunch! It was a good training day for Diane and myself and Wendy's strength was fully there. Nita always knows where to find us and be there for support. Thanks to good friends!

4/10/16 Vacaville, CA training ride?

Oh no another rained out training day🌧! Yesterday was the 40 annual Cinderella ride in Pleasanton. We drove down on Friday to spend the night and do the Saturday ride. Well, after some thought the 4 of us, Diana, Dori, Wendy and myself planning on meeting Diane, woke to rain and decided not to do the ride😕. After a huge breakfast we drove home thinking of the next day's ride. Glad to have the rain but sad not to ride. Here we are in Old Town Vacaville having coffee, treats and great conversations. Oh well, back to Vacaville tomorrow and hopefully we'll get a ride in.

I Think We've Almost Got It!

Everything is falling in to place.  I think the layout is coming together. The Header looks a little better.  You don't have to scroll so far to see the important stuff--Gail's Posts.  Also, Gail is tracking her practice rides on Map My Ride, and I have been able to post each day on a page on this blog.  Just click the link in the right column under Route Maps to see what she has been doing.  You can follow along during the actual ride.  Now I just have to get Gail to do a couple of practice posts.  Next weekend she will be doing the Cinderella ride.  That should give her lots of things to talk about.
